Walk Home from Shaw Metro – A Photographic Journey
Subject: Inspiration & Photography
Thursday night I walked home from the Metro and was inspired to chronicle my journey with my iPhone 4 camera (some were taken withe basic phone’s camera and the rest used the “Hipstamatic” App. It wasn’t my initial intention, but upon seeing a defaced Metro advertisement I became inspired! Below are the pictures, each taken at a different point in my walk from the Shaw/Howard University Metro stop to my house several blocks away.

Picture 15: My winter hat Mike brought me from Nepal. VERY similar to Susie Salmon’s hat in The Lovely Bones
|
I took the long way home in order to cover more ground and potentially have more photo opportunities. The “long way” entails walking down R Street instead of 5th Street. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I subconsciously repeated what Susie Salmon’s character in The Lovely Bones did, only differently. I took the long way home and made it there safely; she took a shortcut through a cornfield and was killed. The other similarities would be her character’s love of photography and the winter hat. Strange how art can imitate life and vice-versa.
